If you get a little nervous when experimenting with new trends, denim is your safety zone. If we’re talking about wearing something bold, jeans are the perfect canvas to introduce something a bit punchy. The familiar, casual air of denim pares it back, telling the world we’re not taking this whole fashion thing too seriously.
It’s true of dramatic silhouettes, and it’s certainly true of color trends. For 2025, there are six hues that are on our radar thanks to the spring runway shows and the trend forecasters who know these things. Some shades feel fresh, while others are continuations of the color trends we’ve been wearing for a moment, which is great news for everyone who has already doubled down on red and brown knitwear for this season. Here are the six color trends—from cheery pastels to delicious, moody brown—I’m already shopping to wear with my jeans in 2025.
Forest Green
Olive green may be the moment this winter, but a slightly brighter hue is on the cards for 2025. I love polished jewel tones juxtaposed with faded jeans. Just layer on your most reliable black leather accessories and outerwear to complete the look.
Butter Yellow
Butter yellow has been consistently cool for a few season now. If you’ve invested as heavily in this year’s burgundy trend as I have, trust me when I say you’re going to be freaking *delighted* by how perfectly they work together.
Bright Red
I live in New York and just got back from Paris, and going by the style I’m seeing on the street, neither of these fashion capitals is giving up on red anytime soon. Like butter yellow, red also looks really cool and forward when layered with burgundy or mixed in with gray for a slightly preppy vibe.
Espresso Brown
I love brown even when it’s not on-trend, so this past year has been a treat. You can only imagine how thrilled I am to see that this trend is sticking around for 2025. Apparently, we’ve collectively agreed that chocolate and espresso brown are too good to move on from just yet.
Mint Green
Mint is already bubbling up, from Longchamp to J.Crew to Manolo Blahnik. This particular shade has cooler undertones, which make it feel a little more refined and elevated than your poppy pastels.
Pastel Pink
Rounding out the pastels is an ultra-soft pink, which is so good with denim I don’t know where to start. Black and burgundy feel chic layered in, and they’re ideal if you want to keep the vibe from feeling too Baby Spice. (But you do you.)
