SZA, Nominated for Nine Awards, to Perform Live at Grammys

SZA, the most-nominated person at Sunday’s Grammys, will perform at the live show.

The Recording Academy announced on Monday that the R&B star will hit the stage at the event, airing live on CBS from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. 

Previously announced performers include Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Luke Combs, Burna Boy and Travis Scott. Emmy winner Trevor Noah will host the show.

SZA’s nine nominations include album of the year for SOS, while her No. 1 hit “Kill Bill” will compete for song of the year and record of the year. She scored nominations across the pop, R&B and rap fields: Her Phoebe Bridgers-assisted “Ghost In the Machine” is up for best pop duo/group performance; “Low” is nominated for best melodic rap performance; and she’s up for four R&B honors, including best progressive R&B album (SOS), best R&B song (“Snooze”), best R&B performance (“Kill Bill”) and best traditional R&B performance (“Love Language”).

SZA’s collaboration with Doja Cat, “Kiss Me More,” won the 2022 Grammy for best pop duo/group performance.

Victoria Monét and Bridgers follow SZA with seven nominations, while Taylor Swift, Eilish and Rodrigo earned six nominations apiece. Female acts dominate this year and count for all of the nominees in the top three categories apart from Jon Batiste. Album of the year contenders are SOS, Swift’s Midnights, Rodrigo’s Guts, Batiste’s World Music Radio, Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation, boygenius’ the record, Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd and Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure.
