Tiffany Haddish Pleads No Contest to Vehicle Code Violation After L.A. Arrest Over Thanksgiving Holiday

Tiffany Haddish pleaded no contest to a vehicle code violation after she was arrested over Thanksgiving weekend in Beverly Hills and subsequently charged with driving under the influence.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the actress and comedian pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor vehicle code violation, known as “Wet Reckless.” Haddish’s DUI charges were dismissed, Haddish’s attorney, Alex Spiro said in a statement obtained by THR.

“Ms. Haddish has agreed to a simple vehicle code violation (not driving under the influence which has been dismissed) and looks forward to this being behind her,” Spiro said.

As part of her plea deal, Haddish was placed on a year of summary probation and ordered to complete a driver’s education course, fulfill 40 hours of community service and pay a series of standard fines and fees. She has been additionally required to attend a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Victim Impact Program and L.A. County’s Hospital and Morgue Program.

On Nov. 24, 2023, the Beverly Hills Police Department found Haddish slumped over the wheel of a non-moving vehicle that was blocking a roadway in Beverly Hills. She was arrested and later charged with driving under the influence.

Haddish was previously arrested on suspicion of a DUI in Georgia in January 2022, joking about the arrest a few weeks later on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“I’ve been praying to God to send me a new man, a good man. And God went ahead and sent me four — in uniform,” she said. “I got a really great lawyer, and we’re going to work it out. I’ve got to get my asking of things to God a little better!”

After her arrest in L.A. over the Thanksgiving holiday, Haddish told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries.”

She added that she had had a long day on Thanksgiving, feeding underprivileged people at The Laugh Factory, followed by a stand-up set at the comedy club and then attending a concert at the El Rey Theatre.
