Perry Farrell’s Wife Says He Is Seeking Medical Treatment After “Physical Outburst” at Jane’s Addiction Concert

Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is seeking medical treatment following an onstage confrontation with guitarist Dave Navarro that prompted the band to cancel all remaining dates on its North American tour.

His wife, Etty Lau Farrell, revealed the update in an Instagram post on Saturday.

“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” she wrote. “Perry already has appointments with [an] otolaryngologist [an ear, nose and throat specialist] and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.”

Etty Lau added that she and her husband appreciate all the “words of love and support.” She said that she and Perry were “equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are” but explained that he had been “pushed to his absolute limit” and “to that end we apologize.”

In videos posted of the rock band’s Sept. 13 show in Boston, Farrell can be seen confronting Navarro, yelling “fuck you” at the guitarist, and then throwing a punch while the band was performing “Ocean Size.”

On Sept. 16, the band released a statement saying they were canceling the rest of their North American tour dates. The group had reunited for a tour together for the first time in 14 years.

“To all the fans, the band have [sic] made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be canceling the remainder of the tour,” the statement posted on social media reads.

For her part, Etty Lau, also shared some words of hope in her social media post.

“With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere.. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry — unbridled,” she wrote.

Beyond grateful and so very humbled we are, to all the dears that have taken the time to send us such beautiful words of love and support – checking in over and over again to make sure we are well taken care of. Offering love and compassion, words of kindness, and even your homes for us to escape to…

Like attracts like. Kindness attracts kindness. As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls. We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are – but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologize.

We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal. Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.

With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere.. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry – unbridled.

Make no mistake when he’s ready he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think, while changing the world together.

We can rejoice together then. And you will know, we would not have been able to do it without you.
