Olivia Rodrigo’s Team Reportedly No Longer Allowing Abortion Funds to Hand Out Contraceptives at GUTS Tour Stops

It appears Olivia Rodrigo‘s team has had a change of heart after morning-after pills and condoms were handed out at her St. Louis GUTS Tour stop.

According to reports that surfaced on Friday, Rodrigo’s team told the abortion funds that she has partnered with for future tour stops that they are no longer allowed to hand out contraceptives.

“The #GUTSWorldTour is asking abortion funds not to bring emergency contraception (EC), condoms, or lube to tour stops,” DC Abortion Fund communications manager Jade Hurley said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We hope to see this change before DC’s date on July 20th.”

Even if the DC organization isn’t allowed to hand out contraceptives at the summer show, it shared on X (formerly Twitter) that it has no issue distributing Plan B for free outside of the venue. “GUTSWorldTour ticket-holders OR NOT: See you July 20th outside Capital One! We take care of us,” the org wrote.

The Missouri Abortion Fund, which brought the morning-after pills and condoms to the St. Louis stop, shared its own statement, noting that handing out contraceptives is part of what abortion funds do when they table. The organization also felt it was necessary to clarify that emergency contraceptives are available even when Rodrigo is not in town and that they are legal and safe to use.

Sources told Jezebel that her management team prohibited the abortion funds from distributing contraceptives and supplies at future shows because they would be too accessible to young girls in the audience.

The news comes after Rodrigo’s St. Louis show went viral, but the abortion funds tabling at previous shows, like the one on March 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina, also had the contraceptives available, according to a post on the Carolina Abortion Fund’s Instagram.

Ahead of kicking off her GUTS Tour, Rodrigo announced she was launching a new initiative, the Fund 4 Good, through which she would partner up with local chapters of the National Network of Abortion Funds. Together, they’re working to “ensure those most impacted by systemic racism, misogyny and healthcare barriers can get the reproductive care they deserve,” according to its page on the Entertainment Industry Foundation website.

At the St. Louis stop, the Missouri Abortion Fund handed out Julie morning-after pills. The brand launched following Roe v. Wade being overturned and works every day to change the conversation around emergency contraception to expand access to communities most in need.

Representatives for Rodrigo did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
