Donald Glover Cancels Remainder of Childish Gambino Tour Dates Due to Health Issues

Donald Glover has made the decision to cancel the rest of his Childish Gambino tour dates in North America and the United Kingdom, after postponing them last month.

The artist took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news that, due to health problems, he is canceling the remainder of his tour dates to heal.

“After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,” he wrote. “After being assesed, it became clear i would not perform that night, and after more tests, i could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked.”

He continued, “As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal. My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the U.K. and European dates.”

All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. While Glover noted that the shows would not go on for now, he seems determined to finish the tour at some point.

“I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform,” he concluded. “Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support.”

Last month, Glover had postponed the remainder of his tour dates to focus on his physical health after his show in Houston. The New World tour was set to run until Oct. 3 in the United States, before the overseas portion kicked off in November.

The tour was meant to serve as Glover’s farewell to Childish Gambino, as he said earlier this year that he was ready to move on from the alter ego.

“It really was just like, ‘Oh, it’s done,’” he said in July. “It’s not fulfilling. And I just felt like I didn’t need to build in this way anymore.”

At the time, he explained that becoming a parent partially influenced his decision to retire the moniker.

“I’m not 25 anymore, standing in front of a boulder like, ‘This has to move,’” Glover said. “You give what you can, but there’s beauty everywhere in every moment. You don’t have to build it. You don’t have to search for it.”

He added, “When I put my son on my shoulders, I feel deep joy. That’s real. No one on their deathbed is going to look back and say, ‘Thank God I avoided being cringe.’”
